Not worthless, but not much of a record. Brewer is especially irritating and pretentious. Still, there are indications that there's an interesting band here, especially in the abrasive guitar playing of Joe Baiza. Abrasive and calculated in a manner that all but shrieks, 'Hey, notice us!,' it's a pretty hard slog to get to the good stuff.

Artist Saccharine Trust; Album Paganicons; Licensed to YouTube by The Orchard Music (on behalf of SST Records); Audiam. More by Saccharine Trust. We Became Snakes. More Saccharine Trust. Listen to Paganicons now. Listen to Paganicons in full in the Spotify app. All in all, not only am I incapable of writing an actual review, but also Saccharine Trust were one of the most unique and interesting bands of this era, and unlike all the nervous breakdown wannabes, Saccharine Trust will be remembered as an odd, eerie, yet ass-kicking band. Saccharine Trust - Paganicons 12' - 1981. Another truely unique band to emerge from the San Pedro punk scene of the early 80’s and following closely after the Minutemen they tested what Punk or Hardcore should be defined as and stitched those boundaries to breaking point. Side A: 01 - I Have. 02 - Community Lie. 03 - Effort To Waste.
